C3 Deep Dive - Teaching Practice and Learning Environment - Ashli Gore - Room 833
Component 3 demonstrates how you engage students and positively impact learning. Candidates submit 2 written commentaries and 2 video recordings. Be prepared to think through your curriculum and develop possible ideas to meet C3 criteria. Please bring printed and electronic copies of NBCT General Portfolio Instructions, Certificate-Specific Instructions for Library Media, Scoring Guide, and Component 3 Portfolio Instructions and Scoring Rubric. You may want highlighters and note-taking materials.
Bingo, Basketball, and Books: Designing Exciting Literacy Events - Amy Bellamy - Room 831
Are you looking to increase excitement for literacy in your school or district? Struggling to engage reluctant readers? Want to take your school or district's "I Love to Read Month" events to the next level? Looking for ways to get teachers on board with promoting literacy events in their classrooms? Join this session for information about designing and implementing exciting literacy programs and events. We will discuss ideas for “I Love to Read Month” that will excite and motivate students and ALL staff, from classroom teachers to bus drivers, to play along! You'll also learn how to design exciting Literacy March Madness events that reinforce state reading academic standards and build excitement for read-alouds at the elementary level and poetry and music at the middle/high school level.

This hands-on experience provided by the Demco Book Doctor will cover how to do basic page repairs, tip-ins, hinge and spine repairs, book jacket and laminate applications, and how to reinforce spines. Course notes with links to other free resources such as how-to videos, product directories, and a repair guide will be provided. Space is limited.
